Commentary on "A Midsummer Night's Memory"

It is always a worry that when you are busy enjoying yourself, revelling and frolicking away upon verdant meads, laughing and quaffing in the gold of a perfect summer’s day, that you will then discover that you are in fact a persona in someone else’s dream, and that that person is about to wake up. Disturbingly, Steve explores such a scenario in this work, apparently considering that being true to his art form was worth the potential traumatisation of his audience. Luckily, there seemed to be no permanent ill-effects (CH)
